Thousands Run for Healthy Heart in Marathon


Dr Anand Venugopal, Deputy Medical Superintendent, KMC Hospital, Mangalore told reporters here on Wednesday  that elected representatives, officials, and senior level management staff of Manipal University would take part on the World Heart Day run to be held on September 30.

The run begins from TMA Pai Convention Centre and ends at KMC Hospital at Ambedkar Circle. This event that is being organized for the last Eight years has been drawing people in excess of 5,000 each year and the number is growing, he said.

Subrahmanya K M, a national level walker will lead the run, which will pass through Lalbagh, M G Road, P V S Circle, Bunts Hostel Circle.

 Attractive T-shirts will be issued to people participating in the run on a first-come-first served basis, he said. In a bid to encourage the participants, special prizes will be given to the best placard, best institution, corporation participation, youngest, eldest participant, and so on.

WHD Heart Check Package 2012 is  launched on the occasion of WHD at a discounted price of Rs 1600/- (upto 45% discount) and senior citizens have been offered at a special rate of Rs1300/-The hospital will perform further treatments such as angiogram, angioplasty and other procedures for patients needing them at a discounted price.
