Mega Oral Health Program For Employees of MRPL Mangalore.
The Department of Public health Dentistry, Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore conducted a Mega oral health program for the employees of MRPL (Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited), Mangalore.
The program started with a oral health examination during the period of February 2012- April 2012 to identify their oral health status and treatment needs. On 14th October, 2012, an oral health education and treatment camp was organized by, Dr.Vaibhav Pravin Thakkar, Post Graduate student from the Department of Public Health Dentistry, MCODS, Mangalore in association with the MRPL-ONGC Karmachari Sangh (MOKC)
Oral health education was done by a group of 15 final year students who performed a socio – drama with a ‘Munnabhai M.B.B.S’ theme to spread awareness regarding harmful effects of Smoking, Tobacco chewing and alcohol consumption. They even emphasized on proper oral hygiene practices to be followed for a good oral health. This was well appreciated by the audience.

Dental treatment was provided at the Samudaya Bhavan, Ganeshpura, Kaikamba using the Mobile Dental Clinic of the College. Portable units were also used inside the hall.
Oral prophylaxis, restorations and extractions were performed at the venue and those who needed advanced dental treatment were brought to the college on the next day using the college bus and their treatment was completed in the Comprehensive dental Clinic at Attavar. The program was a huge success.
