INDUCTION CEREMONY 2011-12
At first, the program was invocated by a prayer song, following which, there was lighting of the lamp by the associate deans-Dr. Dilip Nayak, Dr. Kundabala;Sports co-ordinator-Dr. Karthik Shetty, cultural co-ordinator Dr. Mithun Pai, and the president of the former students’ council Mr. Vaibhav Jagad. After the lamp lighting ceremony, Dr. Dilip Nayak addressed the gathering with a welcome speech. He emphasized that the “extra-curricular” activities should be re-named as “co-curricular” activities, and that they play an essential role in developing a person’s soft skills, beyond the scope of what the course has to offer alone. He also mentioned that in the due course of time, the development of both hard and soft skills help the individual to face the competitive world in a unique way and emerge victorious.
After Dr. Dilip Nayak’s speech, Mr. Vaibhav Jagad took over to present the achievements of the previous year council at both inter-class and inter-college level. MCODS bagged 6 medals ( 1 gold, 3 silver, 2 bronze) in inter-MAHE swimming competition last year. This was followed by an impressive performance at the semi-finals of inter-MAHE cricket competition against KMC Mangalore, who have been persistently the champions since the last 7 years. Besides sports, the annual DISHA report was also put up, in which there was a good amount of participation by students of all batches.
The event was then followed by handing over of power in which, the previous year council members handed over their powers to their respective successors. Vaibhav then administered the oath to the newly appointed council members. The newly appointed students’ council president, Mr. Anand Sekhar, introduced the other members of the council and the class representatives of various batches for that academic year to the college faculty. The program came to an end, with the new General Secretary, Priya Singh presenting the vote of thanks, with a hope of keeping up to the standards of last year, and persevering to perform better as a team.
