A Continuing Professional Development Program entitled “Bridging the gap between oral and systemic health” was conducted by the Department of Periodontology Manipal College of Dental Sciences, Mangalore on 14th July 2012.
Dr. Dilip G Nayak, Dean MCODS Mangalore was the chief guest for the occasion. Dr. Neetha J Shetty Associate Professor Department of Periodontology MCODS Mangalore and Dr. Mrudula, Assistant Professor Department of Medicine Kasturba Medical College Mangalore were the resource persons for the occasion and gave us an overview of the dental and physicians perspective of the oral systemic link on the same topic. This was followed by a panel discussion which was moderated by Dr. Ashita Uppoor Professor and Head Department of Periodontology MCODS Mangalore. The medical experts included Dr.Pralhad Kushtagi Professor, Department of OBGy KMC Mangalore and Dr. Nithyananda Chowta, Professor Department of Medicine KMC Mangalore. The dental experts included Dr. G Subraya Bhat, Professor and Head Department of Periodontology MCODS Manipal, Dr. Nandini Manjunath Professor and Head Department of Periodontology AJ Institute of Dental Sciences Mangalore and Dr. Deepa G Kamath Associate Professor Department of Periodontology MCODS Mangalore.Around 140 delegates, who included faculty, postgraduates and interns from MCODS Mangalore participated in the session.
